Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

The decisions that go into choosing the right water heating or cooling system — solar versus heat pump, ETC versus FPC, residential versus commercial — laid out in plain language.

Which is better — a solar water heater or a heat pump?
Both cut bills dramatically versus an electric geyser. Solar (Kaldor ETC/FPC) is best for homes with reliable sunlight and roof space, with a typical payback of 3–4 years. Heat pumps (Aguaman) work day or night, in any climate, and suit homes without unobstructed roof access, hotels with 24-hour hot water demand, and locations where solar yield is seasonal. Many of our customers combine both — solar as the primary source, heat pump as a backup.
How much does a heat pump water heater cost in India?
A residential Aguaman heat pump for a 200 L/day household typically costs ₹70,000–₹1,40,000 installed, depending on capacity and tank size. Annual running cost is around ₹3,800 versus ₹13,000 for an equivalent electric geyser — a 70% saving — so payback usually falls between 3 and 5 years. Commercial heat pumps and pool heat pumps are quoted on site survey.
ETC vs FPC solar water heater — which should I choose?
ETC (Evacuated Tube Collector) systems perform better in cooler climates, on overcast days, and where water is hard — the glass tubes self-clean and have lower thermal loss. FPC (Flat Plate Collector) systems are sturdier under hailstorms, easier to maintain and ideal for coastal Kerala and Karnataka. Kaldor manufactures both — we recommend based on your roof orientation, water quality and usage profile.
Do you supply industrial chillers for hotels and factories?
Yes. Aguaman air-cooled and water-cooled chillers from 5 TR to 200+ TR are deployed in hotels, hospitals, pharmaceutical plants, dairies and process manufacturing across India. Inverter-driven variable-speed units cut energy use by up to 35% versus fixed-speed alternatives, and pay back the upfront premium within 2–3 cooling seasons.
Where in India do you install and service?
Our headquarters and field teams are in Karnataka and Kerala, where we provide direct installation, annual maintenance contracts and after-sales service. For commercial projects — chillers, large heat pumps, solar arrays for institutions — we deliver and commission pan-India through a vetted partner network.
What warranty and AMC do you offer?
Aguaman equipment carries a manufacturer warranty of 2–5 years depending on the product line. Kaldor solar tanks are warranted for 7 years and FPC/ETC collectors for 10. Our optional AMC covers periodic inspection, refrigerant top-up, descaling, sacrificial-anode replacement and priority breakdown response within 48 hours in our service regions.
Can a heat pump replace my existing electric geyser?
Yes — in most homes a heat pump retrofits onto the same plumbing as an electric geyser. The outdoor unit needs an open balcony, terrace or wall mount with airflow. A site survey confirms placement, electrical load and tank sizing.
How much rooftop space does a solar water heater need?
For a typical family of 4 (200 LPD), an ETC system needs around 4–5 m² of shadow-free south-facing roof, an FPC system around 3 m². Larger institutional systems scale linearly — we size every installation based on your household load and roof access.
